Jonny first gained attention as the drummer for the English indie pop band Ghosts. Beyond his role behind the kit, Jonny co-wrote and produced the entire The World Is Outside album (2007) while simultaneously performing as the band's live drummer. The album was recorded at Trevor Horn's estate studio alongside Danton Supple (who produced & mixed Coldplay's A Rush of Blood to the Head). After signing to Atlantic Records, the album reached No.18 on the UK Albums Chart and produced two Top 40 singles. Legal disputes curtailed the band's momentum, and they disbanded in 2012 — a turning point that led Jonny from performing into full-time songwriting and production.

"Ghosts get it so right, it's scary"

"Fabulously catchy"
Reinventing himself as a writer/producer under the moniker Ghostwriter, Jonny's breakthrough came with Foxes, co‑writing her hit single "Youth" and shaping much of her Glorious (2014) album. His profile surged in 2013 with Rudimental's "Waiting All Night" (feat. Ella Eyre), which he wrote alongside James Newman (of Eurovision fame). The track hit No.1 on the UK Singles Chart and won Best British Single at the 2014 Brit Awards — placing Jonny joint 9th as the UK's most successful songwriter alongside fellow hitmaker Calvin Harris.
He was also central to Zedd's Grammy‑winning Clarity (2014), recording and producing Foxes' vocals for the track, which won Best Dance Recording at the Grammys. Further high‑level collaborations include co‑writing/producing Rudimental's international hit "Lay It All On Me" (feat. Ed Sheeran), cementing his status as a global hitmaker.
Jonny also co-wrote and produced "Surrender" on the No1 album The Architect by Paloma Faith with Rag 'n' Bone Man & Jon Green. This powerful collaboration showcased his versatility in crafting emotionally charged pop anthems across diverse artist collaborations.

Jonny has also worked with Take That, Sugababes, Saint Raymond, Lauren Aquilina, Gabrielle Aplin, Netsky, Say Lou Lou, Becky Hill, James Newman, John Newman, and Jess Glynne, amongst many more.

In recent years, Jonny returned to performing with his electronic duo cheapcuts, alongside Jack Leonard. Previously signed to Skint Records, the label that famously released early music from Fatboy Slim, the project allowed him to explore a more artist‑led sound, described as "producers of locally sourced beats."
Their debut single "Check Your Phone" (2020), featuring Pete Wentz (of Fall Out Boy), cracked the US Billboard Alternative Top 30. They followed with remixes for pop icons, including Kylie Minogue — with the Kylie remix reaching No.1 on the European iTunes chart.
cheapcuts has also achieved high‑profile sync placements, including:
These syncs highlight Jonny's reach beyond the charts into global advertising and gaming, proving his music resonates across multiple platforms.
